In the two years preceding the crisis, a slew of international investors and real estate developers flooded into Russia. The Moscow real estate market produced unbelievable growth in this period, but sobriety hit the Russian real estate sector quite painfully. Moscow today is characterized by empty office buildings, shopping centers at the auctioned blocks, bankrupt real estate developers, and plummeting rental rates.
